EUEW (European Union of Electrical Wholesalers) held its 62nd General Convention in Krakow in June 2017. The event, hosted by EUEW’s Polish member SHE ZPDE, the Polish Federation of Electrical Wholesalers, welcomed 250+ representatives and 130+ leading electrical wholesalers from over 20 European countries and beyond.
The General Assembly of EUEW confirmed Mr. Ulrich Liedtke, as its new President. Mr Liedtke serves as the Executive Vice President of Würth Elektrogroßhandel GmbH & Co. KG. He takes over the position from Mr. João Bencatel, General Director of the company Electrorayd, member of FEGIME from Portugal. Mr Bencatel served as the EUEW President for the past 2 years. Mr. Bencatel and Mr. Alexander Dewulf (CEO Sonepar Belgium) will complete the Presidium as Vice Presidents.
“I am honored to be chosen to lead this important organization, that strives to set the best operational and ethical standards in the electrical wholesalers industry across Europe,” said Mr Liedtke. “I am looking forward to further building on the legacy of my past leaders, and position EUEW as the leading community of expert electrical wholesaler executives and companies in the European Union.” “The Board of Directors and newly formed Advisory Council of EUEW are focusing on a transformational strategy that will help EUEW stand closer to the electric wholesalers” added Mr. Liedtke.
To support its ambitious transformation journey, EUEW has appointed Mr. Hans Hanegreefs as its new General Secretary. Hans Hanegreefs is a seasoned, international association management
professional with over 20 years of experience in the non-profit sector. Over the past 15 years, he has served as the Executive Vice President & CEO of EPTDA (EMEA Power Transmission Distributors Association), the leading association for the mechanical power transmission & motion control (PT/MC) industry across EMEA. EPTDA currently has a membership of nearly 260 leading companies in 34 countries across EMEA. Its membership represents over 26 billion euros annual sales volume and 250,000 employees.
“I feel privileged to take over the position of General Secretary of the EUEW. I was truly honored to attend the Annual General Convention in Krakow, where I had the opportunity to meet so many members in person, and better understand the challenges as well as opportunities that lie ahead. It is remarkable that most trade associations are facing similar concerns, and with our past experiences, I am looking forward to adding value in helping answer some of these challenges, and support EUEW in its future journey. As the only pan-European organization representing the electrical wholesalers, I am confident the potential for further development and growth is enormous,” comments Hans Hanegreefs.
One of the key focus areas for EUEW will be to provide better communication platforms to encourage wholesalers to interact more and share best practices, launch new B2B networking opportunities, improve/introduce intelligence and market trend analysis, venture into lobbying at the EU level, and much more, to help better navigate the uncertainties of the global business environment, adds Hans
The 2017 Annual General Convention in Krakow attracted several guest speakers and industry specialists who reviewed the performance of the electrical industry and global economy till date, and
shed light on the road ahead, so EUEW members can stay competitive and relevant in the age of digitalization and sustainable development.
